List of Prominent women in Hawaii's History. All of these ladies' names were placed in such a way to configure the Hawaiian word for woman, which is "Wahine". (Can be found at Pearlridge Mall's "Homegrown" store.
Here are some interesting facts about these women: Kekuʻiapoiwa II - Hawaiian Chiefess, and Mother of King Kamehameha I.
Kaʻahumanu - Queen consort, Regent of the Kingdom of Hawai'i as Kuhina Nui (Most politically powerful). Apparently, she was also the favorite wife of King Kamehameha I.
Bernice Pauahi Bishop - Hawaiian princess and Philanthropist (Bishop invested in the fruition of Kamehameha schools, specializing in educating children of native Hawaiians). She is also the last direct descendant of the Royal House of the Kamehameha.
Lili'uokalani - The ONLY queen regnant, as well as the last sovereign monarch of the Hawaiian Kingdom. She was throned queen when her brother (King) Kalākaua died in early 1891. Thus, she became the first woman to ever rule Hawaii. As queen, she implemented a new constitution in hopes to restore the powers lost to the monarchy through the Bayonet Constitution.
Ka'iulani - Hawaiian Princess. She was the only child of Princess Miriam Likelike, and the last heir apparent to the throne of the Hawaiian Kingdom. She was also the niece of King Kalākaua and Queen Liliʻuokalani.
